What Made The Punisher the Man He is Today?
Like all good superheroes, Punisher fell on some hard times in his life before
super powers. As Frank Castle, he was a devoted family man and Marine. Through
a stroke of bad luck, his little family walked into the middle of a murder in
New York’s Central Park, killing everyone but Frank. His oath to his family was
to fight anyone he deemed criminal.

The Punisher first showed his face as an anti-hero and the alter ego Frank
Castle in a 1974 Spiderman comic. Such a following did he earn, that his
creators, Gerry Conway and John Romita, Sr., had to give him his own storyline.
Remade for the silver screen in 2004, Punisher is joined by Tattooed Mike,
Harry Heck, Spacker Dave and a whole slew of old and new faces. The movie
release helped to boost action figure sales as well as get fans buying the
comics again. Role model for teens, Punisher’s basic black garb save for the
skeleton on his chest, can make parents a bit nervous. His intentions are good,
though, to get the criminals at all costs.

The Punisher's Story
As The Punisher, Frank Castle's ultimate goal is to wipe out criminals by any means necessary. During the 1970's, Frank made his debut in the Spider-Man series, and went on to make appearances in Daredevil, and other Marvel titles. In the 1980's, the Punisher got his own series. Dressed in black military gear, with his signature foreboding white skull across his chest, the Punisher lacks super-powers, but his strengths lie in his experience as a highly skilled combatant and marksman, commanding an arsenal of countless weapons, both classic and technologically advanced. The Punisher proves himself unstoppable in the face of criminals and law enforcement alike. Frank became a decorated marine during the Vietnam War. During his time as a soldier, he uncovered and fought against internal corruption that often threatened his life. After coming home to New York, Frank's family was killed when they witnessed a mob murder. Frank vowed to avenge the death of his family, and with this, the Punisher was born. After dealing out his deadly brand of justice to the crime family that took his wife and children from him, Frank went on to wage war against all murderous criminals. The Punisher's battle is one that never ends.
