There are two main ways to get into proposition gambling: ordinary wagers or
futures contracts that work similar to contracts on the equities and
commodities exchanges.
Proposition Gambling : Betting
Proposition betting can best be described as betting on current events. There
are also numerous sports bets that fall into this category, having nothing to
do with the final score. Below, you will find some examples of proposition

· On what date and time will an imminent war start?
· Who or what will win the Academy Award for any number of categories?

Proposition Gambling : Futures Contracts
The proposition futures contracts work just like other futures contracts. The
price is controlled at any give time by supply and demand. Like other futures,
the price also reflects the inherent value of the future, in this case, which
candidate is most likely to win. When trading futures, it's a win/lose
proposition. For example, suppose that you bought a futures contract for Kerry
or Bush. The day after the election, the futures for the candidate who wins
might pay $100 per contract while the contract on the loser pays nothing.
Futures traders may sell their contracts early to lock in gains or cut losses.
Many traders believe that the futures market predicts events, rather than
events influencing the price of futures.
Off-exchange futures contracts are hardly limited to politics. You can bet on
almost anything. There are two main differences between proposition futures
contracts trading and straight proposition betting. Futures contracts are
always an either/or proposition (something will happen or it will not), and the
trader can always trade out of the contract at any time before the contract
expires. Examples of proposition futures contracts include:
· Congressional and Senate races
· Whether Osama Bin Laden will be captured before or after a certain date
· Whether the DOW, NADSAQ, or S&P will close above or below a certain level
on a given date

Craps Proposition Betting

you head to the craps area to look at this

another form of proposition bets. The center section is divided in two. The
Hardways section and the One Roll Bets section. One roll bets are as they
sound. You bet on a single role on a specific number. There are different one
roll bets available. Any seven is a bet that someone will roll a seven by any
combination. Any craps is a one-roll bet that someone will throw any 2,3, or a
12. A horn bet is a bet on 2,3, 11 and 12 all at once. This bet requires that
four chips be placed for each number.
Is There Skill In Proposition Gambling?
These proposition bets are risky of course. But the hardway is well, hard. You
are betting that a number will come up in a pair before any other combination.
So it you were betting a hardway eight, you are betting that two fours would
come up before a six and a two. Whichever form of proposition betting you
choose to play, it’s all about luck. Skill only keeps you walking past the
risky things. As for me I’m betting that Budweiser will have the best
commercial at the Super Bowl. Any takers?
