Seven video poker tips

Video Poker is all-too-often confused with slots. Simply because they are graphically-driven games, video poker requires far more thought and strategy. Some good rules of thumb to improve your odds of success are:
1.You can apply a different strategy to each machine, so when you find a machine you like, stick with it. The longer you play, you will become more comfortable and be able to develop a strategy that works best for you .
2.Resist the temptation to hold on to a Kicker. Holding an unpaired card with a pair adds no value to your hand.
3.Drawing an outside straight (_5,6,7,8_) is far and away easier than waiting to draw an inside straight (5,6,_,8,9). Allowing yourself to wait for a draw on an outside straight allows you to complete your hand by getting the card you need on either end.
4.Jacks or Better has an easy-to-understand strategy that makes it the game best suited to players new to Video Poker.
5.Higher payouts such as 9/6 for Jacks or Better and 9/5 for Deuces Wild offer the best payouts for players.
6.Before you discard, remember that the probability of a Royal Flush in Jacks or Better Video Poker is approximately 1 in every 40,000 hands.
7.Never hold three cards in an attempt to get a straight or flush.

More Tips:

While there are many different strategies involved with each table, there are a few points that should be followed for all:

• Don't hold four cards of an inside straight—an inside straight is one where the potential straight can be completed only one way. An outside straight is one that can be completed in two ways and so is twice as likely to be successful. The only exception to this rule is an ace-high straight.
• Don't hold three cards of a straight except for K-Q-J.
• Don't hold three cards of a flush- do not hold three cards of the same suit unless it is also a potential straight flush.
• Don't hold a kicker with any pair or with three of a kind- a kicker is a single high card (J,Q,K,A) that has the potential to turn into a winning pair.
• The pair or three of a kind should always be played and the kicker discarded.

Video Poker Rules
The rules of video poker

Online Video Poker is a close relative to the regular poker game that you are accustomed to in the casinos. Video Poker is a game of draw poker, in which the player is dealt 5 cards face up. The player then decides which cards to keep or “hold” and which cards to discard. The player simply clicks on each card he/she wishes to hold with the mouse. Then when the “Deal” button is clicked, new cards will be dealt where the discarded cards once appeared. Your final hand determines whether you win or lose the game. The object of the game is obviously to get any of the winning combinations of poker hands. The winning combinations and the payoff schedule are listed on a payout schedule attached to the video poker machine.

Play right and you'll be playing what many consider the best video game in the casino. You get to play at your own pace and you also have the potential for big payoffs. There are more variations of video poker than most other casino games, and knowledge of which machine is which and how they act is valuable information. Each variation requires its own strategy, and you should know where the best pay tables are for each game.
