Mini Baccarat
| |
Mini-baccarat is a low-stakes version of one of the most popular casino games,
baccarat. It’s an easy game to play and offers some of the best odds in the
casino. Many casinos have started offering mini-baccarat in order to attract
more players to what is normally a high stakes game. Mini-baccarat bets usually
start at $5. Mini-baccarat is much faster than the traditional game, and
because the number of hands played is so much higher, some players may spend
more at a low-stakes mini-baccarat table than at a higher-stakes traditional
baccarat table.
The object of the game is to guess which hand will come closest to nine. You
place your bet on who you think will have a hand that is closer to nine, either
the banker or the player, or you can bet that they will tie. The dealer draws
two hands of two cards, one for himself (the bank) and one for the player. The
hand coming closest to nine wins. All wagers pay even money, with ties paying
out at eight to one. Typically, casinos charge a 5% commission on winning
banker bets.
So how do you win at mini-baccarat? Don’t pay more than a 5% commission. Some
places will try to charge you 6%, so it pays to look around. Some places also
offer limited commission free play, so, obviously, this is your best bet.
Naturally you want to bet on the wining hand. Some experts say betting on the
banker every time raises your chances of winning since the banker hand offers
the lowest house advantage. Others say bet on the hand that one the previous
game.
