Las Vegas Hotel Casino
| |
There have been many Las Vegas hotel casinos through the years. Some have been
more infamous than others. But the main characteristic trait has been gambling.
In the 1940’s, the El Rancho Vegas was one of the first hotel casinos. Due to
its success, it paved the way for other hotel casinos to be built. The El
Rancho Vegas was the only resort on the Las Vegas strip to have singers,
comedians and various performers booked to entertain their hotel guests.
On New Years Eve, 1946, a more celebrated resort opened. The Flamingo Hotel,
built by mobster Bugsy Siegel. The Flamingo had a giant neon sign and pink
flamingo replicas on the lawn. It was modeled after resort hotels in Miami.
Many of the early first-generation strip resorts have either been demolished,
bought out by new owners or have been extensively renovated. In 1976, casino
style gaming was legalized in Atlantic City, NJ. Las Vegas casino owners
realized that they no longer had the exclusive rights to gambling casinos. That
brought the future of the Las Vegas hotel casino to where it is today. The mega
resorts of today offer not just adult entertainment, but something for the
whole family.
There are many hotel casinos on the Las Vegas strip. The Circus Circus hotel
casino has a $90 million theme water park called the Grand Slam Canyon. The
Mirage Hotel-Casino has a white tiger habitat, and a dolphin pool. One of the
most ambitious resort projects in the history of Las Vegas is the MGM Grand
Hotel and Theme park. This 5,005-room hotel has a 171,500-foot casino. However,
a 33-acre theme park is the main feature. Whichever one you choose, the Las
Vegas hotel casino has something for every one of all ages. There have been
many changes to the Las Vegas strip over the years, but its still a vacation
favorite.
