The recommendation is one of a raft of proposals put to the Government by former Liverpool chief executive Rick Parry and a panel of sports betting experts following a review of the threat of gambling-related corruption in sport.
Parry's review, commissioned by sports minister Gerry Sutcliffe, also recommends the establishment of a centralised cross-sport betting integrity unit to investigate cases of suspected corruption, with the most serious being passed to the police.
