Blackjack Switch Game
| |
One variation on the standard blackjack game is known as the
blackjack switch, which is where a player can trade cards between two hands
being played simultaneously. The player makes equal bets for both hands and
generally winning hands pay even money. At present the blackjack switch is
available on a few online venues and one casino in Las Vegas.

Some Basic Blackjack Switch Rules
Most of the rules for blackjack switch are the same as traditional blackjack
regulations although there are a few differences. As previously noted when
playing blackjack switch the player must make two bets of equal amount and the
cards are dealt face up. Six decks of cards are generally used in this version
of the game. A player may double on any two cards or after a split, but the
player is not allowed to resplit. A player’s blackjack will still beat a
dealer’s 22 but if the dealer has 22 he will beat any player with a total of 21
or less. In Las Vegas, as opposed to the online venues, up to eight decks of
cards can be used and a player can resplit into four hands instead of the two
allowed online. As with any game played at an online or onsite casino a player
should familiarize themselves with specific house game rules before playing.
Some Tools To Assist With Basic Blackjack Switch Strategy
For those players that like to include a bit of science or mathematics with
their game there are a range of tables available online that assist the player
with various hand combinations and the move best suited to that combination
under the switch rule. These tables are available for both the eight deck and
six deck versions of the game and some online sites provide strategy
calculators that are specific to variations of the blackjack switch game.
